Personnel Assessment Form (PAF)

The PAF is a convenient, objective measure of general mental ability and intelligence. It takes approximately 15 minutes to complete, and is based in part on SIGMA's experience in developing the Multidimensional Aptitude Battery-II , a world-class mental ability assessment that has been used to select NASA astronauts.

A strong predictor of job performance

Thousands of studies provide evidence that tests of general mental ability predict successful job performance across a wide variety of jobs and situations (e.g. Schmidt & Hunter, 2004; Schmidt & Hunter, 1998; Gottfredson, 1997; Hunter & Hunter, 1984). In fact, studies indicate that there is no predictor of job performance that is comparable in validity to measures of general mental ability.

Individuals scoring high on the PAF tend to be rated by supervisors as having a greater promotability (Gellatly, Paunonen, Meyer, Jackson, & Goffin, 1991). The verbal dimension of the PAF was found to predict higher ratings on written and verbal communications, in addition to higher ratings on managing and training employees.

Forms

The PAF is available in two forms. Form A contains more difficult items and is more accurate at a high range than Form C. Form C's easier items are more accurate at the lower range of scores.

Each form of the PAF consists of 2 timed subtests, Verbal and Quantitative.

Administration

For valid results, both forms of the PAF must be administered in a proctored environment. As a result, account features that allow you to email test-taking instructions to remote test takers are disabled for this test.
